The Introductory Session has always been a successful marketing tool for Simply Music teachers. However, we live in a different world now than when the FIS was first created. We now have the opportunity to share how learning with the Simply Music method can equip students with ‘critical neurological nutrition’ to help them thrive in an unpredictable and ever-changing world. Every Simply Music teacher can benefit by incorporating this dialogue into their lives. Background of FIS Format (00:05) Why a…

Question about Workshops

I would love to grow my studio from the plateau of about 20 students to more like 50. One thing I want to do is add Workshops. I see a 6-minute training on Workshops in Business Support. Where else would you suggest I look? Also, does anyone have experience and advice on Workshops that you would like to share here? How do you advertise it? How do you price it? What do you wish you had…

Teacher in a valley

I'm hoping to find some advice and encouragement. For several months, I have felt bogged down in studio management (mostly involving recruiting and keeping students since my finances are very restricted at the moment). In the process of trying to fill vacancies and keep my financial boat afloat, I am losing the joy of teaching and constantly feel drained. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to keep energized and excited about teaching while feeling totally…

Promoting SM with promises of playing immediately

When promoting Simply Music Piano, do you use the phrases "Play right away" or "Play from the very first lesson"? I feel such statements may set the bar too high for the new student. I can think of no other discipline (physical or musical) where such an outcome is promised. If you introduce pentatonic improvisation at the first lesson, students play right away and from the first lesson. [answer author="Leeanne…

Growing adult student population

Some folks asked me to share about growing your adult student population. Here are a few things that have worked for me. 1) Deciding that's what I wanted. Yes, I have turned down requests for teaching children. I adore kids, but at this point in my life, I realized I wanted to teach adults since most of my career has been with children. 2) Social media has been amazing for me. I post on FaceBook…

Studio FaceBook business pages

Do you have a FaceBook business pate for Simply Music? What is on it? Are links allowed to direct prospects to the main SM site for info? Wanting to expand. I do have a FaceBook business page. I use FaceBook ads to promote my Free Introductory Sessions that I plan about once a month. I have a link to my personal business website. I try to "like" other teachers' FaceBook pages…

Gift certificates for lessons

I've just been contacted by someone who would like to buy his wife a term of piano lessons for Christmas. Just wondering if there are in existence any gift certificate templates anywhere. Also, how would something like this work with the buying of student home materials? Any ideas on what others have done would be helpful too. I've been wondering the same, but also thought about the need for the recipient…
