What special and supplemental programs correspond with Foundation levels?

Does anyone have an outline of what special and supplemental programs they have students purchase with each level? I am going to do my first FIS next weekend with my current students, and I want to give parents an accurate expectation of how much they will spend on materials their first year as it will be drastically different from what they are used to. I have seen the chart by SM that suggests when to add the…

Foundation Duets books

A recent post elicited a good solution to managing group classes with more duet stimulation. I just contacted Elizabeth Gaikwad to tease it out a bit more. She said I could post the following in case it helps anyone else. It was a good reminder for me as I am deep in learning newer programs. If a student is ahead in the class: A teacher sent a note telling me that the "Duets" were a "life…

Songs in Songs for Christmas

Hello Everyone, Could someone please tell me the list of songs in the “Songs for Christmas” book? I have found lists for “Songs for Everyone”, but not the Christmas book. Hi Barbara, The songs in the Songs For Christmas Book are: Jingle Bells Silent Night O Come All Ye Faithful Angels We Have Heard On High Once In Royal David’s City The First Noel Joy To The World We Three Kings Ding…

Songs for Christmas with Improvisation

I am late in getting Christmas songs going this year, but I am under way at last. The 14 carols are great to play along with in CFG chords and a minor song. I am adding an improvisation component for those who now find CFG chords a breeze. We will play improvisation with the Student Audio. Of course we will improvise using the chord given, with arpeggios and broken chords and runs and whatever. It’s going to be a…

Using Foundation Duets with student with prior experience

Hi all, I just watched the promo video for Foundation Duets & Variations. One of the suggestions mentioned was to use the Foundation Duets & Variations with a student who has prior experience to help give them some interest and challenge, especially when the other members of their group have not had prior experience. I have a potential new group forming – father and two teenage sons – with just that scenario: the father can read…

Time to allow for Pedal TTM?

Greetings – I am thinking about teaching the content of the Pedal TTM during summer lessons but have not taught it before. Can anybody comment on how much time would be needed to cover it? Would you devote an entire lesson to this as a particular focus, or combine it with other streams for variety? Based on the answer to the previous question, how many weeks/lessons would be needed to cover the content? I am encouraging…

Songs for Children and other Resources

I'm looking for input from teachers who are familiar with the Songs for Children program, whether they've chosen to use it in their studios or not. I'd like to hear from those who love it and from others who've chosen different resources to expand the Accompaniment program. I'm trying to get various perspectives as I prepare to launch the Accomp. program in my relatively new studio. With Accomp. 1, Reading Notes, and Reading Rhythm all being…

Read ‘n Play Workbook Volume One‏

Does this work book start at the same time as students begin RR or is it introduced when they are up to the Naming Notes page? Asking this as I don't have time to listen to training before a possible issue of the book to a student if it is given at the beginning of RR. This is a very good question. Can someone provide more info about the Read n…

Minimum age to start Accompaniment Stream

Is there a minimum age you would suggest for students to start the accompaniment stream?  I teach a family of 3 brothers age 5, 7 and 9.  The 9 yr old has begun F2, the 5 and 7 yr old are nearly done F1.  I am thinking to start the 9 yr old on Accompaniment 1, and expect the 7 yr old as well.   Wondering if I should also include the 5 yr old (he will…
