Keyboard Recommendations

I have had several parents that are interested in starting their children in lessons ask me if I have any recommendations as far keyboards to purchase. I really haven’t been in the market for a keyboard in years, but was wondering if anyone has recommendations on any models, brands and types here in the USA. Something that is a good introductory level, full size keyboard, good quality (not a toy obviously) for learning, but not the financial burden of top of the line. Any recommendations I could pass along to parents would be much appreciated.

Here is a cut and paste of a very rough document that I have created over the years, just for my use. The prices and exact model #’s may have changed.
The man who sold me my acoustic piano works for a store that sells only very reputable instruments. Just recently, in response to demand, they have begun carrying just one choice for a keyboard to meet the exact market you described.
Best they have found is Yamaha P 95 B
$650
$ 50 stand
$ 50 Bench
$ 50 upgrade pedal Important!
$800 total
IS REPAIRABLE,weighted keys, 88 notes.

I agree with advice given here previously that people should get the most inspiring instrument their budget allows.
I used to own a Yamaha NP-30 and liked it a lot. At some point I just needed something more and went with the Casio Privia PX-330, a more advanced version of models I recommend here along with another Yamaha model.

The most important need I have when buying a piano is its tone and the touch. The Yamaha P155 meets those needs for me. I am totally happy with it and don’t feel the need to upgrade for a good long time. With the piano stand, seat, music stand, pedal, adaptor, headphones etc included, it came to about $1200. The earlier models of these, P90, P80 are just as good and are much, much cheaper in price. The piano stores where I live didn’t have much in the way of digital pianos, so I ordered online.

I really like my Casio PX130. It cost me about $600, but that included the big stand to put the keyboard on, the little music stand, the carrying case, the pedal, two sets of headphones, and a dust cover.
