Managing the Playlist for Families

I’m a brand new teacher. Almost all my student body is made up of families, with 2-3 students from each family. I have my families buy just one set of SHM for each level for the whole family. They have additional separate notes books, but I didn’t think about the playlist. Is there any reason they couldn’t share a playlist, with each person on their own page? Then when that book is full, the family could get a new one.
Does a new playlist come with each level?

There is not a new playlist with each level. The playlist book only comes with level 1, but you can purchase them new ones when their books get full. I have several classes with multiple family members sharing one book with everyone having their own page. Some have stuck little sticky tabs on their pages so they can turn to their page easily.

No reason why that wouldn’t work. Playlist is only included with Level 1. I sometimes give my students a new playlist as a “just because you need it” gift when they fill up one.

I’m a new teacher as well and am now confused. I thought that families had to purchase one SHM for each child, per Simply Music’s rules? Also, if one child progresses faster than the others and leaves a group to start another level, wouldn’t he need a separate SHM for himself? We’ve been having families purchase multiple SHMs and have gotten no complaints.

Students in a family may share the SHM but we recommend that they each have their own notes book and playlist book. Of course, if one student does move faster, he/she will need the new SHM for their level sooner but then can share it with the sibling.
It can be a great way to respond to the question, “Do you offer a discount for siblings?” We always say, “Yes, you only have to buy one set of SHM and the sibling just needs his/her own copy of the Playlist Book and Notes Book.” People appreciate this type of discount.
