Technology – Music Journal

I recently found an app for tracking practice which I think is pretty good. I personally prefer keeping track of things digitally instead of on a paper playlist, so this is working better for me.
The app is MusicJournal. You can create folders within it, so I made a folder for each of the levels, plus Jazz 1, etc. You then add the pieces within that level. You can add notes to remind yourself of something the next time you play a piece what your next goal is. If you select the piece, the app will time how long you spend on each one. It charts the day/length of time on each piece, as well as your total playing time for the day. And you can easily see when you last played that folder (level) and how much time you spent on it that day.
You can also leave the app while you have the timer running (say you want to practice a piece that you have on your iPad as a digital score) and it will keep tracking your time.

Thanks Patti,
Is MusicJournal something you subscribe to and store online? Or is it stored on your ipad and can access without wifi?

It’s an app on my iPad. No online needed, no subscription. I think the free version has a limit to how many pieces can be kept track of – once I had tried it & decided to use it, I paid for the full version. But you can check it out for free.
