I have several advanced students ( Level 8 and up )looking for showy boogie woogie pieces. Can anyone suggest titles, composers and sources?

Well, if you want really challenging, try Bumble Boogie by Jack Fina!

There is an old publishing company called Leeds. You can sometimes find their books or sheet music on ebay or Amazon, second hand. There may be a website that has downloads as well. Not sure if copyrights have expired yet or not. This is the old stuff from the 40′s.
Some of the names my kids and I like (from that era and published by Leeds) are: Pine Top Smith, Pete Johnson, Albert Ammons. You could have your student listen to some boogie woogie on YouTube and find one he/she likes, then try to find the music. There’s also a 2 cd set called Boogie Woogie Anthology. It’s not too expensive, very exhaustive and, again, you could look for the music to the ones you fall in love with!
A well known one (I believe it was featured in the movie “The Majestic” and played by Jim Carey – you can find it on YouTube as well) is the Boogie Woogie Stomp.
If you’re looking for something a little simpler, “Beach Buggy Boogie” by Martha Miers is kinda cute! Check it out on YouTube also.
