For Australian Teachers… Are any of you members to the Australian Music Teachers Register? If so why? What are the benefits that are promised and what benefits have your noticed? What reason would one want to be registered with them? Have you had any kind of result from them, good or bad?

Kerry,
I am a member of the music teacher online website. Membership is free for a basic one and I get majority of my enquiry from this
www.musicteacher.com.au/

I’m on the Australian Music Teachers Register, but had to look up the link you gave to make sure I was because I think of it as Music Teachers Online. I did not pay anything, but gave a $25 donation last year I believe.
It is worth being on as I get an occasional enquiry from it. I now give short answers to people enquiring. It is worth the effort for any student gained.
I find the AMTR interesting, like letters after one’s name. Is that how it is supposed to be used, like Sue Coles AMTR?

I got an email from the AMTR yesterday with an offer to upgrade my membership. I have a free listing on there. I’d actually forgotten putting it there, must have been there for a few years! I’m pretty sure I’ve had no students ever come from there. If you search for a piano teacher or music teacher in my area their listing doesn’t show on the first 3 pages of Google (haven’t checked past there but it’s unlikely someone searching would either). Not sure what it’s like in your area. Hopefully it would have much better results for a paid listing.
The music teacher online website that Joanne mentioned www.musicteacher.com.au has been great though. Again, I only have a free listing on there but I get a lot of my enquiries through there. Well worth being on there.
