I’m wondering if anyone has tips or insights to share on keeping a blog. I’m a bit of a technophobe when it comes to new things, so I’d love anything that can make the experience easier. I’ve recently joined the Facebook world and am enjoying the potential that offers for communicating with current and potential students, but I’m also aware that not everyone’s on Facebook.
I’d like to explore a complimentary way to provide tips and tidbits on a regular basis to a wider audience and feel like a blog might be an interesting avenue to explore. Please share your experiences with getting started – anything and everything is welcome!

A further question: I had an adult student ask me about setting something up on my website so that the students could blog. Has anyone tried that?

It depends if you are looking to do text or video blogs, but wordpress is a great place to start controlling your own blog and sending traffic to your site (looks more professional than blog@…..) I am doing a lot of guest blogging on local blogs to let them know about Simply Music and begin to get links. What do you want to blog about in particular (Your life, SM only, your own playing, playing tips, etc), and what audience and format you are thinking about? I just did an Amazon order to get the equipment I need for picture in picture blogging at the piano (me small in a window with the keyboard at the bottom.

I definitely recommend using WordPress (or something like it), because it makes putting up a website and then blogging very very easy.

I too use Wordpress for my web site and blog a bit on it, but not as often as I like.
