Can’t Hear with Zoom Original Sound

I wonder if anybody has experienced this with online students – I have had many many online students during the years, primarily using Zoom (a 10 mth interlude with Rock out Loud), and with two different families who have keyboards, I cannot hear their keyboard on Zoom, and yes the original sound is on. It is the weirdest thing. I can hear their voice, but no sound from the keyboard. I’ve been using Forte, only for them, and then the piano comes through beautifully but with the changes on Forte, that’s no longer possible. Any insights on why this is happening and solutions? Thanks in advance!

New computers come with their own noise suppression systems – even when Zoom is set correctly – so you need to have them turn those off.

Windows computers mostly. There is an advanced audio setting for Zoom on Windows that allows you to turn off Windows audio driver and essentially force Original sound to work. But it needs to be set from the student side.
Fyi, I discovered recently that teachers may be able to enable original sound REMOTELY with certain settings in place.
