I do not know if everyone uses the Free Introductory Session materials but in my opinion they are well worth the investment of your time. When I attended the November workshop in Sacramento, I was only about four weeks into my training with Neil. Based on the information I had gotten from my conversations and from the teacher training materials I thought I probably had enough to go on without using the FIS information. However, I spoke to another teacher who told me that she could not have done her FIS without reviewing the video. I viewed Neil’s video twice before I gave my first FIS last Saturday at our open house. It was packed full of helpful information. I found his comments and suggestions very useful in my preparations.

In addition, I watched the FIS that he did on the video to a real audience and learned a lot. I was able to observe his style, the flow, his choice of words, the demonstration of pieces and the Ode to Joy demo. I COULD have done the FIS without the materials but I am quite sure that I would not have enrolled as many students. I have had several people comment to me about my presentation saying it was “terribly interesting”, “captivating”, “very exciting” and “fabulous.” I had one woman say that she was hanging on my every word!!! What I believe about Neil is that he has CAREFULLY crafted this presentation to produce a particular result. Neil is purposeful in his presentation and has things done and said in a particular order and terminology that I would not have been aware of doing it on my own. I have had a number of teachers e-mail me about what led to the success I enjoyed on Saturday. I believe that the marketing and the ads got people to call, but the FIS is what sold them. If you haven’t used Neil’s presentation and haven’t been successful in enrolling students, I highly recommend using and memorizing the FIS.

I just want to second what Robin has said here, for those of you who haven’t done an FIS or are nervous about doing one, the FIS training videos are very helpful and provide all the information you need to present a successful FIS. I have done one in which 12 people attended and I ended up with 14 students as a result.
