I am in the process of studying the level 10 development program. It sounds fantastic and I am really excited to be at the end.
Neil mentions in level 10 that in the music we can tell that the particular song is in a key of (for example) A, or C or G etc. I haven’t really come up to this part of learning in our materials as to where we start teaching our students that a song is in the key of…… Can someone tell me where this may be? I am going over the Accomp 2, Jazz but don’t have the Reading Notes 2 yet to study that. I don’t recall hearing it anywhere.

At the end of the Reading notes 1 program key signature is discussed, and I begin work with the student on recognizing the key signatures up to 4 sharps and 4 flats. In level 7 foundation songs, my students and I commonly look at things like key sig in the music, as well as it being an ingredient in Time for More Music. I also use “what key signature is this song in?” language when sight reading accompaniments, or just learning new accompaniments, though it doesn’t really relate to the performance of the acc.
