Learning Strategies (Tools) Form

I have read the posting “Joanne Jones Tools and Strategies List” in Simpedia “About Teaching and Learning” and appreciate the overall listing of the “Lego pieces” that can be pulled out of our” arsenal”. However, I am still curious if anyone has ever compiled a list identifying the strategies that are taught in each specific piece in each of the Foundation Levels (and even in the variations, accompaniments, and arrangements)? Is it important to point out each of these tools and strategies as they occur to the students as they are introduced to each song or is knowledge of what they have learned as tools and strategies pointed out at a later time? Thanks for any input!

I have developed an A4 form for each level that I use to help revise the learning strategies for each piece. I usually paste it on the inside cover of the reference book and ask the student to fill it in as homework. I find it is an effective way of both revising the pieces and for making the student more aware of the learning strategies they have been using. It also helps to give the students a ‘language’ to use when describing the way we learn. With level 4, I do not provide the list of strategies at the top of the form as I want them to generate them themselves.
