As a somewhat new teacher (one year), I am interested to know what is the most important thing you all learned in your studios this last year? For me personally it is that patience pays off – patience with myself (in growing the studio) and patience with students to let them progress as slowly as they need to.

I feel like I can do anything I put my mind to. I had a goal to have a family fun fest to promote my studio in the community without using any of my own money…I did it successfully! I had 8 sponsors and 130 people show up to my festival. The only money I spent was on flyers for my studio! It also gave me a much better idea for what kind of market I’m targeting.

It’s time for me to take piano lessons myself!

That teaching can be healing and therapeutic. I’m also very thankful for the 13 years I’ve been teaching SM.

I have a couple:
1. It’s important to have the relationship conversation with your students every week.
2. When students are in a valley, it’s a good time to do a full playlist review and give their brain a rest.

That students need to learn HOW to practice. It doesn’t come naturally for many folks, so their time isn’t utilized well. I want to start teaching “how to practice” lessons in my studio.
