Scheduling student who observes Ramadan

I’m about to acquire a young Muslim man who delayed beginning because of driving 40 minutes to my studio on low calories during Ramadan. That’s fine with me. I’m just thinking when Ramadan comes around next year the issue will rise again. He’s a pharmacist and wanted his lesson after work – the hungry times I guess. I’m wondering how other teachers schedule for Ramadan?

Is he in a shared lesson? I have Muslim students but the issue of Ramadan has never come up. I know it isn’t compulsory for them to do, it’s a choice they make if they want to do it. If possible, I would get him to do an online lesson during Ramadan if he doesn’t feel up to driving to your studio.

My mum student had no time to practice because she was working all day then had to get home and prepare the feast. It was frustrating. Now I always ask if there are any issues coming up that might prevent you practicing. She didn’t stay long with me. She didn’t have time to practice.

My brother in law observes Ramadan. He does not eat from sunup to sundown. His job is very physically demanding so he lightens his work. He eats a big meal after sundown. Considering the above, a Skype lesson would be ideal either later at night or early in the morning during Ramadan.
