Continuing RR projects after starting RN

Once a student has started Reading Notes, should they continue to do rhythm projects every week (transcribing) or do they switch over to Reading Notes projects? It seems like a lot to have a weekly Rhythm project in addition to a weekly Notes project, but I’m wondering if they will start to forget things like dotted notes, rests, and ties.

Even when my students are done with Reading Rhythm, I still do a little RR game review either every week or every other. It only takes a couple of minutes.

You need to keep revisiting and reinforcing all the rhythm concepts. You don’t necessarily need to do it every single week, but do so consistently. It can be as simple as assigning your class to write 4 or 8 measures of rhythm, then processing through them the following week as MORs with the class. Also, my Read ‘n Play volume 1 workbook is a companion to Reading Rhythm – it’s a good way to give a tangible assignment and keep the ideas fresh. Even if you’ve used it with the class, you can ask them to print a specific page again and redo it as a review.
The Read ‘n Play books are available in the Store under Supplemental Programs.
