A couple of parents voiced their concerns regarding piano lessons during COVID-19 outbreaks. I am going to send an email regarding this to all the families in my studios regarding precautions and the option for on-line lessons. Any of you have sent such info/instructions for the purpose and/or is willing to share your thoughts.
I feel that at this time, going to school has a higher risk than taking piano lessons. My students are still going to their sport activities. Since close contact like touching hands, spreading droplets, and sharing equipment is quite unavoidable during piano lessons, it is good to have a plan so that the parents and students knows what to do and feel safe and be ready for any changes which can happen quickly.

All my daughters activities sent out an email at the beginning of term requesting that anyone returning from overseas stay away from lessons for two weeks. Maybe you could send out a general email and add something about international travel?

We just sent out this email.
Subject: Ride Studio: Coronavirus Procedures/Precautions
Hello Ride Families,
During this evolving Corona virus situation, we are asking your assistance keeping the studio clean and safe for everyone. Please wash your hands when you arrive in the studio, before touching the piano. Single use towels are available in the bathroom.
Maureen is cleaning the piano in between lessons. She is also planning ahead for remote/online lessons if the situation requires people to stay at home.
If you have any questions, please let Maureen or me know.

Spreading droplets is a concern and people doesn’t feel sick or appear sick can carry the virus too. Would you wear a mask and/or have your students wear masks as a precaution?
Leeanne I., Australia
No, apparently masks are ineffective.

I wouldn’t put myself out there as an expert on what kind of masks, if any, could make a difference. Plus I’ve heard that they are in short supply right now… how could you supply your whole studio?
