Eliminating Registration Marks in Design Suite Images

Is there a way to get rid of the markings on the sides of the page (besides upgrading to Adobe acrobat Pro)? They also show up in the business cards of the teacher design suite.

There are ways, and it depends on what software you’re using, etc. Two examples:
If you simply want to edit the image itself before you use/print it in some way, open it up in an image editor (e.g., even something like the Preview app that’s built into all Mac systems, as well as the free version of Acrobat in all likelihood) and use the crop tool. Position your corners based on the perpendicular registration marks in the four corners of the image, and you’ll crop out all that “margin” space that includes all the registration marks.
You could import an image like this directly into something like MS Word, and using the image settings for position and size, you can position it so the space within the registration marks is positioned and sized to perfectly match what Word considers to be the page, at which point all is well and you can print or otherwise manipulate from there.
If what I’ve said is too complicated, you will likely need to find a tutorial and/or a consultant to help you with this.

Mark M. thank you. I will try it in Word. The free version of adobe acrobat does not allow cropping. When I click on the crop tool it asks me to upgrade to pro.

Sandra M. That’s a drag. Mac Preview definitely crops, perhaps something built into Windows does as well, and in any case various image editors will, including many free ones.
Depending on the app, you may need to export the PDF as some other kind of image file first, e.g., TIFF or JPG. Preview can do that, e.g. — but since Preview can crop, and since Word can import PDFs as images, you don’t need to export if you’re using Preview and/or Word.

Sandra M. another option for word might be to insert the image into a textbox and resize the text box to crop off the markings, that way you don’t have to enlarge the picture and potentially get a grainy image, and you can alter the size to fit your aesthetics

Kimberly B. FWIW an image that is already meant to be a standard size page, like the one shown here, will be fine in Word as a standard size page. It may not even need to be sized up, and if it does, it’ll be so slight just to account for the registration area. And, most importantly: PDFs of this kind are full of vector image information, which means they do not lose resolution when they are sized up. Only images like JPGs and PNGs and such, that are raster/pixel-based, lose resolution when enlarged.

You could also try importing the pdf into CANVA and then resize the document by enlarging it so that the crop marks aren’t part of the document. Not sure if you need the pro version though.

Flora L. Same idea as what I said about MS Word. Just a question of what document/publishing app ones feels like using.
