Kris M. Maine
Hi,
I just wanted to tell you all briefly what is going on up here in the great State of Maine! (for those of you in Australia…it is the northeastern most state before Canada!)
Anyway, I spent some time last spring trying to connect with a local news anchor, who often does ‘human interest’ type stories. She is well liked in this area. FYI, I live in a city of about 80,000 people.
She was very interested in Kindermusik and wanted to come to a class last spring but we couldn’t make it work. Lucky for me, and because over the summer my confidence grew with SM, I decided to ask her if she would be willing to consider doing a story on my SM studio instead. To my surprise she offered to do both!
In the process of working out the details, I realized that I had one family who had children in both programs! So alas, she is profiling this family under the umbrella of my studios of KM and SM. I am thrilled and very excited about the exposure. It is going to be a three-part series. (her idea, not mine)
They have already come and filmed an entire KM class with the youngest daughter, interviewed both her mom and I on KM. Then, just this Monday, they came to the very first lesson of the seven-year-old daughter (and the nine year old brother and the dad… both of whom had taken one year of traditional lessons last year and quit).
That went very well too. The young girl was sweet, smart and eager!
They are going to check back in the first part of November to see how Emily is doing with piano (which I already know will be fabulous) and then come to our recital mid-December where the ‘proof will be in the pudding’.
Also they will check back in with Maddie in the KM class too and see how she is as well.
What a great opportunity, not just for me and my business, but just by way of cultural exposure to this community! I wanted you all to know, and encourage you to contact your local media, and I bet you will find that there is an interest in this type of story where you live too.
PS. Neil suggested today that I encourage Emily to teach mom (since mom wont be attending lessons and doesn’t believe she can play piano). What a nice twist – to see the young daughter teach mom and have HER playing a lovely repertoire as well!! The camera crew would LOVE that!! Hopefully I can make that happen.
Thanks Neil!!
Take Care,
Kris M.
