Lending Library

Does anyone offer their students a “lending library” to allow them to check out and borrow pieces of your music? What are your policies? Are there any problems with copyright in doing this?

No copies are being made, there is no copyright infringement. Other things like recordings have other kinds of rights that could possibly be infringed beyond the question of making copies, but I don’t think there are any further issues with lending sheet music.

I think it is good practice to get students to purchase sheet music. They usually only cost a couple of dollars.

I agree, especially when they have identified a specific song they want to learn. I guess I was thinking more about various books of short solo/recital type pieces that they might enjoy playing through as additional note reading material but may or may not decide to learn as full projects.
