My First Newspaper Article and FIS

I am still waiting for an article to appear online, but I have some initial results to share with all of you. The Mom who attended the interview with the journalist has since signed up for lessons herself.
The article was in the newspaper this morning. Last night one of the newspaper staff emailed me about lessons for her 11-yr.-old son, after reading the article before it went into print.
One new and one potential student, and the town hasn’t even read it yet. I’m feeling very optimistic about this venture!

I have two families coming for an FIS tomorrow night, and two more families who said they might be able to make it as well. That’s four contacts in less than one day, and it didn’t cost me a dime.

Okay, now I know. I can play the piano at an FIS. I didn’t know before, but now after the fact I see that an FIS feels like a group lesson, not like a performance. Did my hands shake? Yes, a little here and there, just like in my practice times, and in my lesson times. Did it matter? Not one bit. So now I know!
Tonight as I was approaching the FIS I began to notice that I felt like I was prepared for a group lesson. And I realized that it wasn’t going to be an issue.
I had two Moms, each with one child here, and a female senior citizen. One Mom signed up for lessons tonight, then asked me what kind of keyboard to get. Didn’t even have an instrument, but signed up for lessons. The senior was so excited she kept taking the floor, I had to really manage the evening well. She signed up and went away talking about convincing her husband to sign up too. The other Mom will talk it over with hubby, who wasn’t here tonight. I am very pleased.
