I have two homeschool families, each with three children who are interested in having me teach all three children.
What kind of discounts do you offer to families where more than one child is taking lessons? Do you max out at a certain rate?

I offer a discount for immediate families with three+ students. It’s $10 per student off the standard monthly tuition.

I really like teaching siblings who homeschool. Generally speaking:
1. These parents are among the most involved in my whole studio.
2. The kids are extremely well mannered and a joy to teach.
3. They spread the word to other homeschoolers.
4. They can come during regular school hours which are harder to fill ( happy hour for piano?!)
5. They tend to have a higher retention rate, which means less work for me, so I give them quite a deal:
Family Policy Group Lessons:
First student in a group lesson $80
Second student in group: $55
Third student in group: $35
I do max out if they have more than three…
I have one homeschool family with five kids and for them I’m doing two back to back groups and they are paying the equivalent of two private lessons. However I was clear that the price will remain the same if one or two quit. So as long as they are using two slots, the fees are constant. It might be said that I don’t value my time enough or that if they were in swim lessons or gymnastics, they would not get such a deal. Well, that’s probably true, but I ‘m ok with this for all the reasons above. If I had a waiting list I might charge a bit more– but I don’t yet.

I have always had homeschool families within my student body. I discount lessons for immediate family members. The second family member receives 20% off the full tuition and the third (or more) receives 30% off.

I offer a steep discount for a second child in the same lesson – nearly 40%. I take one student for $140/mo and two students in the same class for $225/mo. If there were three, I would also take the third student in the same class for an additional $85/mo. For additional family members in a different class, I offer a 10% discount.
I have told some homeschool families that if we could get together three families that could fill two consecutive daytime classes (breaking them up by age), that I would give everyone in the group the same discount even if a family didn’t have two children in the same class. Nobody has taken me up on it yet.
