Teaching Simply Music and have shared with a local home school activities group, so that they might consider Simply Music piano as one of their activities next term. The mother of one of my students has recommended me and the Simply Music program.
One of the issues that is likely to arise, should I be invited to come teach, is that they only meet every twoweeks. There is only 11 weeks next term (usually 10), which will only mean five lessons for the term!
Would it be best if I take the lessons in a Workshop format? And how should I go about it? I am a new teacher and have never done a workshop.
It is likely it would only be one term of this, (they change their activities each term I think), but it may produce enough interest from a few mums, who might like their child/ren to continue with lessons at my home.

I am also in my first year teaching, and have not yet done a workshop (so would love to hear from those voices of experience your tips and approaches to this!) However, I have recently gleaned some info from others in this regard as I am also considering launching workshops. My understanding is the workshop is designed to teach four songs from Foundation Level 1 in four weeks, but it is quite suitable to stretch the content over more time, such as six weeks or even more, if bringing in some arrangements of those four songs. So it would seem like the five lessons would be a good fit for this… Anyone who has any answers please let me know!

The workshop format would be ideal for this situation and cost less for the families (only $12 for the Student Home Materials).
I would recommend conducting session one as a somewhat-abbreviated FIS, covering the areas you feel are most important, and the Basics. Then you can teach one song in each of the remaining four weeks. And they will have two weeks in between each to get solid on each song. It actually sounds like a great way to offer the workshop!
By the way, the four songs represent each of the four genres that we start with – contemporary, blues, classical, accompaniment:
Night Storm
Jackson Blues
Ode to Joy
Amazing Grace
