In the first song in Level 5, Neil uses the written music to teach the song. Is this the standard?

In my experience, students are usually just beginning the reading rhythm program when they are learning ‘In My Eyes’, so even though the music may be open, it is still taught hands-on as are the other Foundation Program songs.

After the successful integration of the Reading Notes Program, and always based on the developmental appropriateness of the piece in relationship to the student’s overall reading ability, the Learning Strategy for each and every piece could be based on either: page to the keyboard, keyboard to the page and/or a combination of both. All are appropriate, acceptable and normal. Bear in mind that the choice of approach would vary from piece to piece, student to student, shared lesson to shared lesson, and teacher to teacher. Once again, I hope I have been sufficiently vague!!
