Physical limitations and alternate chord fingering

I have a student who has a pinched nerve in her back which has caused sciatic nerve issues. She has mild arthritis in RH 1, 2, and 3 top knuckles. She want to play the B chord with RH 1 3 4 rather than 1 3 5. It’s more comfortable to her with the 4 rather than the 5. Should I coach her to use 5 and tell her that over time it will start to feel natural, or is it better for her body to use 4? Overall her body seems somewhat stiff – she moves slowly and carefully.
When she plays “family chords” (chords that include the 2nd) with her RH, her RH 4 and 5 are both on the top note.

Let her play it with 1 3 4 as the goal is to play. In time she could find she gains more flexibility in her fingers and can make the more usual fingering. In the meantime, she maintains her learning momentum.

Definitely, if it is causing discomfort due to the pinched nerve or arthritis, adapt the fingering.
