In the TTMs Notes for Foundation Level 5 song In My Eyes (5.1), there is a reference to “Fragmenting-Layering” in 5.1.2. I know what fragmenting is, but layering in this context is confusing to me. 🤔
In the TTM video Neil does say something about “building the layers that we need ” around the 2:00 time. But there is no description or differentiation of what exactly “layering” is and how it relates to fragments.
Btw, while fragmenting appears in the Teacher Library of course, I was not able to find anything about layering other than multi-sensory layering.

My thoughts was just the next step we were taking as being the layering. For example in Sonata In C, we have the fragmented RH with just the position. You possibly could say then we ‘layer’ the next step which is the melody. We then ‘layer’ that with BH.
that is my only appreciation on what they ‘layering’ may mean. We are building the fragmented part onto the next etc.

Fragmenting and Layering are related. If you look at the last item that comes up in the Library when you search for “layering” (in the definition of Single-Thought Processing). It mentions focusing on single tasks and then layering them together.
