“Blues Surprise” Playlist
I recently put together this Spotify playlist of songs that many people may be surprised to find out use the 12-bar blues structure (or fairly minor variations of it). I left out lots of the early rock era (1950s-1960s) songs that use 12-bar structure, since…

Blues Scale Fingering
I am doing the Blues Improvisation ‘Blues Scales’ and have a question about fingering patterns. In the C scale we use F1 on White notes and F3 on Black notes but what about in other keys? I don’t know if I’ve missed it somewhere… but…

Scale fingering – blues and diatonic
I’m wondering if someone can help me figure out scale fingerings, both with the scales for Blues and Improv (specifically Eb), and traditional v. SM fingering for the diatonic scales. I understand the concept of NO34 (naturally occurring 3s and 4s), but it doesn’t always…

Fingering for all blues scales
Blues & Improv – is there a method for fingering the blues scale in other keys? I understand developing the shapes, but do we just find the most comfortable way of fingering? C: RH 1 2 3 4 1 3 1 2 3 4 1…
